Measuring your trimester by Gestation is the most common method. This is most likely what your doctors will be referring to when they discuss your trimesters. Dates are calculated based on your Last Menstrual Period.

By the end of this week you will have completed your second trimester!
The amniotic fluid and the location of the uterus within your pelvis protect your baby. If you do happen to fall, it's unlikely that you'll do serious damage to yourself or your baby. Your body is designed to protect your baby during pregnancy. Any injury would have to be severe enough to seriously hurt you before it would directly harm your baby.
Your baby's body has been growing faster than its head recently, which makes your baby look more like a newborn. She/he is now measuring around 14 inches (36 cm).
Intestinal lining now contains all adult cell types.
As your belly expands, so does your rib cage. Your uterus needs more room to lift up and outwards. You may find yourself getting out of breath around now because your lungs don't have their usual space to expand down into. You may need to take the occasional deep breath.
Last week we talked about making a birth plan. Hopefully you started this, or finished it. But, if you haven’t done so already, or you're not sure where to start, search for birth plan template online.
